    About the artist

    b. 1972, South Korea

    Hwang Seontae is a South Korean artist renowned for his innovative sculptures crafted from tempered glass. Through a process of printing, etching, and layering, Seontae creates idealised, ordered, and utopian scenes articulated by a self- contained LED light source. Seontae’s work often depicts contem- porary interiors, bathed in sunlight and contrasted with lush outdoor landscapes. These scenes evoke a sense of pause, stillness, and suspension, inviting viewers to contemplate themes of departure and return. Having studied fine art in South Korea and Glass Art in Germany, Seontae masterfully demonstrates the interplay between light and shadow, emphasising the fragility and beauty of glass. His work has been exhibited in South Korea, the USA and Europe, earning him recognition as a leading figure in contemporary glass art.
