Pontone Gallery: Opening Exhibition
To celebrate the opening of our new London gallery on Newman Street, Pontone Gallery is delighted to present a curated exhibition of three distinguished artists. Featuring paintings by Henry Jabbour and Matteo Massagrande, and photographs by Lee Jeonglok, the Pontone Gallery Opening Exhibition showcases a selection of works that underscore the combined influences of light, colour and the passage of time on the human psyche.
Born in Beirut and educated at the New York Academy of Art, Henry Jabbour paints the human figure. His paintings display a vivid use of colour and exuberant execution. His loosely-indicated, schematic images are integrated into a highly worked and abstracted paint surface, scattered with incidental markings and subtle gestures.
Born in Padua, Italy, Matteo Massagrande is a painter steeped in the history and tradition of figurative representation. He divides his time between Padua and Hajos, Hungary, and the influences of both locations are fundamental to the content and spirit of his practice. Massagrande depicts unoccupied, decayed, possibly abandoned, domestic interiors to evoke light, place and time.
Lee Jeonglok is an established Korean artist who uses photography to create and record his world. He makes mysterious and evocative images of strange and magical events. These happen in carefully chosen, personally significant landscapes, realised by a thorough mastery of photographic technique.
